Pb for Plumbing

The word “plumbing” comes to us from the Romans, even thoughother ancient civilizations before them developed systems for movingwater and waste from one place to another. “Plumbing” is from theLatin for lead, plumbum, because the pipes used by the Romans werelead pipes. The chemical symbol for lead, “Pb,” has the same origin.
