Brass! While “brass-colored” finishes have come and gone over time brass fittings have stood the test of time in plumbing. An alloy made mainly of zinc and copper, brass came into use in plumbing because it is corrosion resistant, anti-bacterial, and easily machined. These qualities help make brass an ideal material for faucet cartridges among other plumbing components. While more expensive than plastic components, brass components make up for that cost in the long run, helping keep your plumbing system working well!
